Capture 2 Print - Exmoor

£995.00 | 19th - 21st April, 2027

There is obviously much more to photography than triggering your camera's shutter. Taking a picture is just the beginning – a photograph doesn’t come alive until it is expertly processed, printed, and presented. And during this 3-day dedicated Capture 2 Print workshop we will take you on a complete photographic journey: from seeing the shot, composing and capturing it, through to processing the file and ultimately producing a high-quality print. The idea is to provide you with a complete package of skills, to help ensure you always make the most of your Raw files.

This workshop will be split into two defined parts. On the first two days, we will focus on in-camera skills and photograph Exmoor. This picturesque National Park, located in South West England, is renowned for its rolling countryside, open moorland, deep wooded valleys and high sea cliffs. It is home to one of the UK’s finest landscapes and Valley of Rocks, Watersmeet, and Porlock Weir are among the locations we plan to visit. Weather permiting, we will shoot into evening, under the friendly, expert guidance of professional landscape photographers, Mark Bauer and Adrian Beasley. We will then return to our accommodation – The Porlock Weir Hotel, a popular, adult only, hotel situated overlooking the historic harbour of Porlock Weir. The hotel is brimming with charm and character and is well known for its good food and warm welcome.

On day three, following a hearty Exmoor breakfast, we head for a day in the classroom with Adobe certified expert and 'digital darkroom' master, Adrian Beasley. Adrian is one of the best in the business – a superb educator who is renowned for his processing and printing skills. He is an experienced and popular tutor with a friendly and accessible approach to teaching. Adrian will demonstrate some of the key developing and printing issues and highlight common problems with lots of hands-on support materials. With his friendly, approachable manner, Adrian, will help you get to grips with some of the key issues involved in developing and printing your images, including colour management, sharpening, and paper choice. After lunch, you will begin printing your photographs and each participant will print and take home three high-quality A3 prints, printed on a choice of fine-art papers.

For this workshop, we are limiting the group size to just eight participants to ensure viewpoints don’t feel crowded. With a small maximum group size, a large amount of individual, bespoke tuition is guaranteed and you will benefit from the differing perspective of two professionals. By the end of the workshop you should have an understanding of the complete photographic workflow and be able to produce good quality prints at home. You will return with a complete set of notes and a workbook, so that you can continue to develop your skills. This workshop is ideal for those who want to experience the complete photographic workflow. We hope you can join us…

*Participants must bring their own computer loaded with their editor of choice

Please note: Adrian will demonstrate techniques using Lightroom but other editors can be accommodated.
