Iceland - The Snaefellsnes Peninsula
£2995.00 | 15th - 20th February, 2027 | Fully Booked
Join the Waiting ListWe’ve run many previous workshops in Iceland, but this is the first time we’re taking a group to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. We went there for a recce two years ago and to say that were impressed by the area would be British understatement at its best.
Situated on the wild western edge of Iceland, Snaefellsnes is a place where dramatic coastlines, brooding skies, and sculpted lava fields create endless opportunities from first light to the fading glow of sunset—and beyond, with the possibility of the northern lights dancing across the sky. Dominated by the iconic ‘witch’s hat’ of Kirkjufell mountain and watched over by the glacier-capped Snæfellsjökull, this region offers a remarkable variety of subjects within easy reach.
There are black sand beaches and sea stacks at Djúpalónssandur, jagged cliffs and a natural arch at Arnarstapi, the beautiful fishing hamlet of Stykkishólmur, the black church at Búðir in its dramatic mountain backdrop and the lava-strewn wilderness of Berserkjahraun. We’ll be based in the Hotel Arnarstapi, with some of Iceland’s most dramatic coastline on our doorstep and within easy reach of all our chosen destinations. We’ll be out at the best times of day, chasing colourful dawns, lingering sunsets and—fingers crossed—the aurora borealis, making the most of Iceland’s extraordinary quality of light.
Your tutors for this workshop will be Mark Bauer and Ross Hoddinott, who between them have run over 20 tours to Iceland. We will also be working with an experienced and fully licensed local guide, who has all the necessary qualifications and who will drive us in an all-terrain super jeep, allowing us to access all our locations, even in the challenging conditions which Iceland is famous for.
Included in the cost of the workshop are five nights bed and breakfast accommodation, transfers to and from Keflavik Airport and all transport during the workshop. We hope you fancy joining us for what promises to be an amazing photographic experience.
*Please note that flights are not included in the cost of the workshop. Please do not book any flights until we advise you to do so. We will meet at Keflavik Airport at 11.00am on the first day of the workshop, to allow us to arrive in time for a sunset shoot in Snaefellsnes. If you are unable to find a flight that will get you there in time, we recommend flying out the previous day and booking the Aurora Hotel at the airport.
