The rugged north Cornish coastline is among the most picturesque in Europe and on this 1-day workshop, we will be focusing on shooting stunning cliff-top vistas. This part of Cornwall is home to a number of iconic viewpoints, which are best photographed from an elevated viewpoint. With a wide-angle lens, you can capture large far-reaching vistas of the dramatic Atlantic coastline, isolated sandy bays and onrushing waves – an irresistible combination.

The north Cornish coast is impressive, wild and imposing and one of the locations we intend visiting is Bedruthan Steps – arguably the jewel in Cornwall's crown. In early May, the cliff tops are often carpeted with spring flowers – particularly thrift. These ‘sea pinks’ can create ideal foreground interest and look stunning bathed in warm, evening sunlight. We will also visit Trevose Head, to photograph the lighthouse perched dramatically on the cliffs – a great location to practice long exposure photography. We will also shoot the wonderful elevated view of Boscastle harbour and rugged cliff tops close to Trevone.

This workshop will provide a great opportunity to hone your compositional skills under the guidance of two leading professional landscape photographers – Mark Bauer and Ross Hoddinott. We will also be working extensively on using landscape photography filters – polarisers, graduated Neutral Density filters and Little, Big and Super Stoppers. You will have access to LEE Filter systems and filters throughout the day – so if you have not used filters previously, this really is a great opportunity to try them for yourself under our expert guidance.

We will meet at 11am for a quick briefing, followed by a pasty lunch (included in the cost), before visiting a minimum of three coastal cliff-top locations. With sunset just after 9pm in mid May, it promises to be a long, busy and productive day’s photography.

For this workshop, we are limiting the group size to just eight people to ensure viewpoints don’t feel too crowded and to guarantee plenty of individual attention and tuition. We hope you can join us…
