Northumberland - Coast & Castles
£895.00 | 04th - 06th October, 2026 | Last Places
Steeped in history, Northumberland is renowned for its wild coastline, unspoilt beaches, ancient castles and photogenic scenery. Large, sandy bays are interupted by dramatic rocky outcrops, while sand dunes and swaying marram grasses add further picture potential. Some of the UK's most dramatic and photogenic castles are perched along Northumberland's coast, including Lindisfarne Castle on Holy Island, the ruins at Dunstanburgh, and Bamburgh Castle - arguably one of the most photogenic buildings found anywhere in the UK.
During our 3-day 'Coast & Castles' workshop, we will not only visit the iconic views at Lindisfarne, Alnwick, Dunstanburgh and Bamburgh, but also some of the less well-known coastal viewpoints where we will discover rocky beaches, boulder fields, and far-reaching coastal views. The light can be dramatic and magical along this coastline, and October often delivers changeable conditions, transient light, big skies, wild seas and colour - ingredients that create landscape images oozing with mood and drama!
This workshop is strictly limited to a group size of just 8 people to ensure locations do not feel crowded. And with two experienced, expert tutors you are guarenteed plenty of attention and bespoke guidance - tailored to your exact needs. During the workshop, we will be staying at the popular Victoria Hotel in the centre of the historic village of Bamburgh, situated just a short walk from its famous castle. The hotel has a big reputation for its welcoming and relaxing atmophere. The bar and brasserie provide a great environment to relax at the end of a good day's shooting. Included in the cost of the workshop are 2-nights accomodation (single occupancy), (Sunday and Monday) and breakfast and lunch (Monday and Tuesday). The group will eat in the hotel's restaurant both nights, but please note that the cost of evening meal is excluded.
Your tutors for this workshop will be Mark Bauer and Ross Hoddinott. For comfort and convenience, transport is via car sharing. We hope you can join us on our Northumberland photo adventure...
