Home to crashing Atlantic waves, golden sandy bays, and steep, dramatic cliffs, the rugged north Cornish coastline is among the most picturesque in Europe and during this 3-day workshop we will visit some of its most photogenic gems.

During the workshop, you will be under the expert guidance of two of the UK's best known landscape photographers – Mark Bauer and Ross Hoddinott. We plan to photograph the extensive golden sands of Sandymouth Bay, the rocky ledges of Trebarwith Strand, and stunning elevated views of Boscastle – one of Cornwall’s best-known and most picturesque harbours. The north Cornish coast is impressive, wild and imposing. No visit to the area would be complete without visiting Trevose Head to photograph the lighthouse perched dramatically on the cliff edge – a great location to capture large crashing waves and water ‘swooshery’. We’ve specifically timed this workshop so that high-tide coincides with dawn in order to capture Bude’s popular and photogenic sea pool as it gets submerged. This is a wonderful spot to practise minimalism and long exposure photography. Bedruthan Steps, Porthcothan Bay and St Nectan’s Glen are also on the agenda during our stay on the North Cornish coast.

This is a great workshop to hone your filtration skills and we will work extensively on using landscape photography filters during the course – polarisers, graduated Neutral Density filters and Little, Big and Super Stoppers. You will have access to LEE Filter systems and filters throughout the course – so if you have not used filters previously, this really is a great opportunity to try them for yourself under our expert guidance.

We will be based at the upbeat and contemporary Beach Hotel, in Bude. This popular boutique hotel, bar, and Elements restaurant is located in the middle of town, overlooking Summerleaze beach and just a short walk away from the sea pool. Accommodation (sole occupancy) and dinner (Monday and Tuesday), breakfast and lunch (Tuesday and Wednesday) is provided in the cost of the workshop. For comfort and convenience, transport is via car sharing

For this workshop, we are limiting the group size to just eight participants to ensure viewpoints don’t feel crowded. With a small maximum group size, a large amount of individual, bespoke tuition is guaranteed, and you will benefit from the differing perspective of two professionals. It promises to be a fun and productive few days photography. We hope you can join us…
