There is obviously much more to photography than triggering the shutter. Taking a picture is just the beginning – a photograph doesn’t come alive until it is expertly processed, printed and presented. The vast majority of our workshops focus almost exclusively on the picture-taking process – light, composition, filtration and exposure. And during this workshop, we will of course continue to develop these core in-camera skills. However, this 2-day Capture 2 Print workshop is designed to guide you through the process of not only taking landscape photos, but editing, developing and printing your images. The idea is to provide you with a complete package of skills, to help ensure you always make the most of your Raw files.

The workshop will be split into two defined parts. On the first day, we will focus on in-camera skills and photograph Exmoor. This picturesque National Park, located in South West England, is renowned for its rolling countryside, open moorland, deep wooded valleys and high sea cliffs. It is home to one of the UK’s finest landscapes and Valley of Rocks, Watersmeet and Porlock Weir are among the locations we plan to visit. Weather permiting, we will shoot into evening, under the friendly guidance of professional landscape photographers, Mark Bauer and Ross Hoddinott. We will then return to our accommodation – the award winning Exmoor White Horse Inn. This picturesque, 16th century inn - located in the heart of Exmoor – is brimming with charm and character and is well known for its good food and warm welcome.

On day two, there will be an optional dawn shoot before we tuck into a hearty breakfast back at the hotel. After breakfast, we head for a day in the classroom with Adobe certified expert Adrian Beasley. Adrian is one of the best in the business – a superb photographer who is renowned for his processing and printing skills. He is an experienced and popular tutor with a friendly and accessible approach to teaching. He will ensure you get the most from your files. Adrian will demonstrate some of the key developing and printing issues and highlight common problems with lots of hands-on support materials. After lunch, you will finish editing your favourite images* and then Adrian will guide the group through the printing process. Each participant will print and take home 3 high quality A3-sized prints, printed on a selection of Art papers.

This workshop is ideal for those who want to experience the complete photographic workflow. By the end of the day you will have confidence in your system settings, understand the calibration steps and appreciate the benefits of different papers. The workshop is full of practical advice to help you to print with confidence at home. You will also receive a comprehensive Lightroom workbook, covering all classroom technique covered and more. We hope you can join us…

*Participants must bring their own computer loaded with their editor of choice

Please note: Adrian will demonstrate techniques using Lightroom but other editors can be accommodated.
